This programme will address two key challenges that hinders the child friendly learning environment in schools: (1) low capacity of teachers to apply child centered teaching pedagogy in the classroom and (2) low capacity among the school community for school planning based on an evidence based and participatory school self-assessment.

Under the Child Friendly Approach, UNICEF introduced the school self-assessment (SSA) process based on six dimensions of the CFA and encouraged school to develop school development plans (SDP_ based on the finding of SSA. However, many schools have reported that they have challenges in the development of SDPs according to the new planning template and how it links with the Quality Assurance tools both introduced by MOE. The school community also lack capacity to carry out SSA in a participatory and evidence based manner and to feed into the new planning templates.
